Resistomap Oy and Indonesia One Health University Network (INDOHUN) agreed to build cooperation by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on Monday, 27 March 2023, where the main activities are biotechnology and one health sector services.

This MoU was signed by the CEO of Resistomap, Dr. Windi Muziasari, and the Coordinator of INDOHUN, Prof. dr. Agus Suwandono, MPH., Dr.PH. It is a form of mutual commitment to collaborate and participate in the social impact analysis, feasibility test, and other related activities in Indonesia; and for this reason, this MOU facilitates the establishment of channels of communication and cooperation that permit the creation and interchange of information, system, and procedures, as well as scientific, technical, financial and institutional collaboration in the area of biotechnology and one health sector services. This collaboration is facilitated by StepNesia (PT Akselerasi Inovasi Bangsa), an Indonesian-based startup consultant.

To promote the One Health approach, INDOHUN was established in January 2012 as a platform where leading academicians, stakeholders, scientists, communities, and professionals in Indonesia could transcend provincial and national borders to work together in addressing global issues concerning One Health. As a network of Indonesian higher education institutions, INDOHUN aims to promote multi-disciplinary collaboration in human, animal, and environmental health sectors in Indonesia through institutional and individual capacity building, advocating for collaboration-supportive policies, conducting research, and community outreach. The five main areas of INDOHUN’s scope of work includes Multi-sectoral Partnership, Institutional Strengthening, Education and Training, Research, and Community Outreach. INDOHUN also conducts capacity building for university members to improve the quality of One Health education and training.

This commitment to cooperation is in line with the United Nations 2023 water conference, attended by Resistomap CEO Windi Muziasari. The mutual consensus shows that water bears a vital role in achieving multiple Sustainable Development Goals meant for the well-being of all people and the planet as a whole. These very same goals are currently jeopardized due to a stagnation of progress. Thus, Resistomap strives to support efforts to improve Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (WASH), by providing monitoring services necessary to mitigate the spread of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), a globally increasing problem requiring a one-health approach. This cooperation is a positive step in the right direction to mitigate AMR in environments such as wastewater from hospitals, antibiotic manufacturers, animal, and agricultural farms, and food production plants,  and supporting one-health solutions in Indonesia.
